A Roman Catholic Church and School
in the Diocese of Columbus
The ministry of altar serving is open to the youth of our parish beginning in 5th grade as long as they have received the sacraments of Baptism and First Holy Communion in the Catholic Church. Altar serving offers service to God and the community by assisting the priest during mass. They also assist with weddings and funerals.
The role of the lector is to proclaim the Word of God at the Eucharist. Sunday masses use two lectors: one for the First Reading and one for the Second Reading. The Prayers of the Faithful are then proclaimed by both lectors together.
The role of the Eucharistic Minister is to distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the congregation at mass. They also are encouraged to extend this ministry beyond the Church by bringing Holy Communion to the sick and homebound.
Those with musical and vocal talents are invited to inquire more about about our music program, which includes both traditional and contemporary music.
Everyone who comes to St. Matthias should know that they are valued here. Greeters and Ushers welcome the congregation, take up the collection, distribute bulletins, and assist visitors with any special needs or requests they might have.
